Design
Feature: Restricted to the existing building "footprint" because
of municipal zoning, the reception area was doubled in size and a fourth
exam room was added by rotating the reception desk ninety degrees and repositioning
the entrance doors. This change also permitted the creation of a continuous
hallway linking all aspects of the practice operation. A greatly improved
client and staff "traffic flow" resulted. |
| Construction
Nuance: In testing the concrete surface of the boarding, grooming,
and ward areas, prior to the installation of layered epoxy flooring, it
was noticed that moisture levels were not only too high, but were increasing.
This is a very unusual phenomenon. Slab borings were performed, and it
was determined that a natural water spring existed under this area of the
clinic. Because epoxy will not "breathe" moisture while curing, a change
to an acrylic based, layered, application was made. It is permeable to
moisture while curing. |
